Corn Maze 2008

We are once again heading to Liberty Ridge Farm for their annual corn maze. This year's theme is the upcoming presidential elections. For the last several years students have enjoyed negotiating the maze, checking out the wonderful fall views, riding the wagon to the pumpkin patch, racing each other in the giant 'gerbil wheels', sliding down the 80' underground chute, and, of course, visiting the snack bar. There are many other things to do at the farm, including some new attractions this year. The date of the corn maze trip is Friday, October 24th. Students may ride in and return home on their regular busses. We will leave the school at 9am and return by 3pm. The cost is $8. Hiking Mt. Greylock

ACL High School students are leaving the school at 8:30am and heading for Mt. Greylock in Massachusetts for a day of hiking and fun. This guided hike will take all day. Students should return to the base of the mountain by 4:30pm or later. Pack a lunch, plenty of water, and bring warm clothes and a camera!

Apple Picking/Pie Baking

Each year ACL students pick apples and bake pies for the Jacob's Well soup kitchen at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Stottville. Yonder Farms in Kinderhook donates the apples. This year was the easiest picking ever since the trees were so hail damaged from a spring storm that they are not being picked for sale. Students, parents, and staff spent the day picking, paring, slicing, mixing, baking - and, of course, eating! In the end we sent about three dozen pies to the soup kitchen, and also made some applesauce to be enjoyed at our Thanksgiving Feast (the day before the Thanksgiving break). Many thanks to Yonder Farms for the blessing of the apples!
